Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

Friday May 3rd at the Minnesota Valley Country Club in Bloomington

Grab your friends and join us for the 14th Annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta!  This event is held each year to celebrate another successful International Teaching Intern Program year.  Ian Leonard will be the emcee and the evening will be full of food, dancing, games and fun.

The International Teaching Intern Program is run by the Spanish Education Fund (SEF), which is  a 501(c)3 charity.  The SEF supplies international teaching interns from Spanish speaking countries to Eagle Heights Spanish Immersion Elementary School, Central Middle School and Eden Prairie High School.  All of the $100,000 required to run this program each year are raised by parent annual contributions, and a few small fundraising events run by parent volunteers (Teacher Time Raffle, Coin Drive and the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta).  Aside from raising funds, the SEF requires many volunteers to make this program happen: Host families, Buddy families, Transportation volunteers, Winter Clothing coordinators, Cultural Event coordinators, Intern Festival coordinators, Communications, Cinco de Mayo Fiesta assistance and donations.  Learn more about the SEF on our website.

Tickets for the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta will be available for purchase online starting on Monday April 8. The deadline to purchase tickets is Monday April 30 at 10pm.  Tickets are $60 each.  You can also sponsor an intern or teacher ticket at a reduced price of $35 each, donate money to the Cork Pull, register your beer pong tournament team or make a cash donation to Cinco at the ticket link as well.

New this year is an option to donate towards an intern ticket in multiples of $10.  For example, if you have three students in school with three interns, you can contribute $10 or more towards each child’s classroom intern!

As we strive to make this event more fun each year, we need your help making it a success! We are in need of donations for the Live and Silent Auction as well as Wine donations (valued at $30 or more) for the Cork Pull. Volunteers are also needed to help set up, take down and ensure that our interns have rides home that evening.  For donation ideas, to sign up to donate or to volunteer, please use this Sign Up Genius link.   If you have questions, contact the Cinco Chair, Esra Riggs, at
